St. Patrick’s Day is one of my favourite days, although my love of the colour green certainly contributes to that! We’ve spent this St. Patrick’s day coming up with some fantastic beverage combinations incorporating Matcha green tea and some of our favourite drinks, creating an even better combination: antioxidants and alcohol!
St. Patrick’s day and green beer are synonymous, so we’ve upped the game by using Matcha instead of food colouring to achieve that perfect shade of shamrock! To do this at home all you need to do is add 1/8th of a teaspoon of Matcha to the bottom of your pint glass, and then fill it with your favourite amber coloured beer!
We also created a few cocktails using Matcha to achieve that perfect St. Patty’s festive feeling!
The Shamrock Soda
1/8th tsp Matcha Tea Powder
2 oz Vodka
6 oz Club Soda or Soda Water
In a cocktail shaker combine the Matcha, vodka and ice, and shake vigorously to incorporate the Matcha. Strain into an Old Fashioned glass with ice and top with the club soda or soda water
½ tsp Matcha Tea Powder
2 oz Gin
4 oz Tonic Water
In a cocktail shaker combine the Matcha, gin and ide, ans shake vigorously to incorporate the Matcha. Strain into a tumbler and garnish with a twist of lime.
